What is appropriate tipping at a hair salon when doing a $300-400 treatment?

Am I supposed to tip a usual 20% if the bill is around $400? I’m new in town (coming from Europe) and it seems crazy to me to give a $80 tip when already paying 400 or so for a hair treatment, so I’m just wondering… thx for your help
